last night i went and got pampered at a dayspa. i got my hair permed in a nice, tight spiral perm. i had my nails done (its so hard and awkward to type with them on! thank god for a backspace button!).. all 20 of them. i even had a pedicure while i was there. then i went and had my eyebrows waxed before i left. oh the things that women do for the name of beauty!
i spent 7hours getting it all done.
YAAAAAAY! my dress came today!!
it is absolutely gorgeous. i got it at 1.30, but had to wait til about 3 before my mom came home and i could have her help me try it on. when i tried it on, the hem came perfectly at the floor, but the bust came waaaay out. although it was suppose to fit snugly in the hips, it was actually 1.5-3inches bigger. i could have probably gotten one-two dress sizes smaller.
so my mom was really freaked out.
right when jimmy came home from training his tux shop called and said that the style of tux we picked out would fit a little snug and asked if we would want to change styles and go up a size. while i was remeasuring jimmy and talking to them on the phone, i asked if they did seamstress work. they said no, but recommended a place in town.
jimmy gave the recommended place a call and they said they would be able to make the alterations and get it back to me in time. so at 5 me, jim, and mom stopped down at the place and met with the lady who ran the business. she was so amazingly nice and i can now say that i know for certain that god really has placed angel’s here on earth. jim waited outside while mom helped me get the dress back on and the lady looked me over. i think she was a little overwhelmed with exactly how much would have to be taken in (5-6in) and she said she had another dress that she had to get done over the weekend as well. my mom was really worried about the train being in the dirt, and the seamstress lady said that she could put bustles into the train to pull it up and keep it clean until it was time for the pictures and what not and we could put it back down. so that was a big relief to my mom. the woman said it would be around $50 for it all. i’m so hopping its not $50. with the work that she’s doing and the time constraint, i’m definitely going to give her a huge tip if all she’s going to charge is $50. she is an absolute god-send.
i forgot to mention last time that i made an appointment at merle norman for tomorrow. i have to be there at noon and will spend about 6hours there getting various things done. i’m going to get a perm done and that will take about 3hours or so. the rest of it will be spent doing my nails and other things. yay girly jessica!
me, mom, and jim went out last night. we stopped at David’s Bridal and i picked up a pair of shoes. yaaay! new wedding shoes finally!
i found a *beautiful* veil there; trimmed in red satin with a pretty red flower embroidery here and there at the edge. i loooooved it… then i looked at the price tag, stared at it for seconds, and then picked my jaw up off the floor. $180! for a friggen veil!!
I went out today and bought some champagne flutes.. I was really happy because I picked them up from a pfaltzgraff outlet store, but I got them home and realized why they were at an outlet store. They have some air bubble impurities in the glass and it looks like the glass is stained. I’m peeved.
I need to check on the status of my dress tomorrow. I’m really hoping that I get it at the end of the week.
I still haven’t found any shoes. I think me, mom, and Jim are going to go check out some bridal stores tomorrow afternoon/evening and see what we can find.
I called today about flower preservations.. Its going to be around $500. It was a lot more than what bun was expecting, so I talked it over with him today. He said I could get them, so I need to call about it tomorrow.
I called today and my Dr phoned in a ’script for me for anxiety so I won’t be all freaked out and scared and edgy for the next 11days. Yaaaay no scared and bitchy jesssica!
the dress that i really, really liked,.. well bunny let me get it! yaaay! i bought it a few days ago and should have it around the 19th/20th by estimations. its going to be a bit big in the bust, so i will need to take it to a seamstress and have it quickly taken in. i’m hoping since i only need the top taken in, that it wont take long to get it done.
we just found out tonight that jim is able to switch his wednesday training to tuesday. yaaay!
yesterday, me and the bunster went to a wedding place and rented him a tux. pretty black with satin edging w/ claret red tux and tie (that have slight pattern differences). we should get it around the 22nd/23rd. the place we went to said they had his size in stock, but we wanted something nicer than their in-stock items once we looked at what they had. we’re praying what we get fits. it ended up being about double than what i was expecting. i’m not sure why we didnt just buy one for the rental price we got *grumbles*
tomorrow me and mom are going shopping and are looking for misc. wedding bits and pieces.
i still need wedding shoes.
i’m going to call monday and make an appointment at a local spa to get my hair done along with a manicure, pedicure, and brow shaping. i’m thinking around thursday.. i also want to get eye lash extensions but everyone is telling me that that’s going a lil too far. lol
i was looking at flower preservation and its looking like it will cost between 400-550. i was happy because i had put in the budget for it to be around 800-900. yay almost half-price from what i was expecting.. i had told jim before that i wanted to get it done, but knew that it was horribly expensive (especially at 800-900) and told him it was NOT something that we had to do since i know money might be a lil tight. so i was happy when i went to tell him today it wasnt as expensive as i thought it was going to be.. he was a lil sickened because for some reason (god only knows why) he thought it was around $200. so i’m not sure if we’re going to do it or not.. mom said its a lot of money and she’d think about getting / contributing to it.. -shrugs- so i’m not sure. i found a place that has tons of examples of their work. they freeze dry the flowers and put them in different things (i like the shadow box) and frame it. funnily, the one that i like is the cheapest they have -l- but i’m having a lot of flowers (30 in all) and i’m not sure how big of one i would need.
We’ve purchased the ticket for Jimmy’s mommy to come!
YAAAAY! There was a dress that I found that I absolutely *loved*.. however I already have a dress. There were a lot of good reasons for the second dress and a lot of good reasons against the second dress. After a few days of struggle and discussion, I’m allowed to get it. YAAAY!
today i called and reserved a spot with VAW. they were free for thursday so we had our choice of time. we discussed it earlier and are going with 2.30.
we’re allowed to bring our own alcohol with us in the limo.
i upgraded my flowers to add into it 6 white calla lilies.
limo will pick us up at the main entrance at 1.15 so we’ll have plenty of time to get there.
our wedding spot will overlook the valley of fire ![]()
we need to tip everyone a ridiculous amount of money.
ok, there is a BEAUTIFUL dress on ebay that is new and in my size. my mom is willing to pay for it, but jim feels that we shouldnt since i already have one. i’m torn between respecting jim’s feelings and a gorgeous dress that i really, really, really like.
i still have not received my jewelry or my boobies that i bought TWO WEEKS AGO!
tomorrow i’m calling and scheduling appointments for hair, make-up, and nails.
We’re planning on getting a package with Vegas Adventure Weddings; their “Dancing Flames of Fire” Package. It includes a limo ride to the Valley of Fire State Park, Nv to be married, flowers (although I will most likely upgrade), and TONS of pictures w/ the copyrights!
We’re planning on taking our moms with us so that they can be there.
We will be staying at the Imperial Palace. They are right on the strip and have what will be a totally kick-ass room for us (Me and Jim, not Me, Jim, and our moms *lol*); The Deluxe Luv Tub Room. It comes complete with a king size bed w/ mirror on the ceiling and a huge tub for two in the bedroom. I can’t wait!
We will only be there for four days and are planning on: seeing Dirk Arthur’s magic show with the big cats, visiting Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, peeping in at the Titanic exhibit at the Tropicana, and stopping and taking the Delux Hoover Dam Tour on our way back home. Jim also wants to do a Vegas buffet.. I keep picturing the Vegas Vacation movie with the blue goop. lol
I already have a dress, but I’m thinking I might get another one. The first one I got when I was planning on a super tight budget. Now my mother wants to get me something more traditional. Who am I to say no?
I’m planning on getting my hair permed before I go and getting a stylist to come to my hotel room to do my hair and make-up on my wedding day. I’m not sure if I will have them do my nails then too or get them done in town before I leave..
I’m planning on upgrading my flowers. I want red roses and mini white calla lilies. I plan on saving the bouquet and getting it freeze dried and mounted in beautiful keepsake frame.
All of the pictures in the package are digital and on a CD. I plan on going to Lulu.com (which coincidentally is Jim’s nickname for me) and making a picture book. They are reasonably priced and I won’t have to worry about pictures going bad. I will also be able to print out multiple copies for me, my mom, jim’s mom, jim’s aunt (who he grew up really close with), and anyone else who would want one.
We’re semi-planning a small and quiet get-together at my parent’s home for friends and family for the Friday after our return.
